Agriculture, Home & Personal Care, Smart Plastics
“We launched Surfonic Bio, a new line of biosurfactants that brings benefits such as softness and biodegradability. This solution meets the demand of several markets, including Home & Personal Care (HPC), where the reduction of the environmental impact and the search for sustainable products and processes are key. We also launched Alkest LV 1400, a biodegradable green solvent. This solution was produced using 100% vegetable and renewable raw materials, which led us to receive one of the most important innovation awards in the Brazilian chemical industry.”
João Parolin, CEO of IOD, South America, Indorama Ventures Limited (IVL)
“Eastman’s Naia Renew is a fiber made with 60% sustainably sourced wood pulp and 40% certified recycled waste material. It is biodegradable and compostable, and it is helping fashion brands to embrace circularity. Another example is our bio-based Acetate Renew, used by Ben & Frank, a leading Mexican eyewear brand, which diverts hard-to-recycle plastic waste from landfills and reduces GHG by up to 50% versus traditional materials.”
Elvira Neves, Latin America Leader, Eastman
“The Plinazolin technology launched earlier this year forms the basis of a revolutionary family of high-performance insecticides. The active ingredient has a new mode of action and is effective against a broad spectrum of pests, including resistant ones, delivering unprecedented insect control on stinkbugs, mites, thrips, caterpillars, flies, and beetles. The molecule can be used in over 40 crops.”
Andre Savino, SYNAP’s General Director, Syngenta Brazil
“Yara has partnered with Cooxupé, the world's largest coffee cooperative, to supply green fertilizers starting in 2024. Green fertilizers maintain the same characteristics of traditional fertilizers, but are produced with an 80% to 90% emissions reduction compared to conventional fertilizer, using clean energy sources. With the adoption of other agricultural practices and tools, there is potential for increased coffee crop productivity, sustainability, and quality.”
Gianni Canneti, Vice President of Strategy and Innovation, Yara Brazil
“The Home Care R&D team has developed a formulation for the washing stage that improves the quality of the recycled material: Soluprat, a 3-in-1 biodegradable product with detergent, anti-odor, and anti-foam action. Our recent launch, Kerasylium, is a plant-based alternative to animal keratin, made from the seed residue of the Sylybum marianum plant.”
Manfredo Rübens, President for South America, BASF
